Two get life term in murder case

Kanpur: Sessions judge Kanpur Nagar Pradeep Kumar Singh on Monday sentenced accused Saurabh Pandey and Sandeep Tiwari to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them for committing murder.The court in its order observed that the accused would give Rs 30,000 from the fine amount to the wife of the deceased. If he failed to pay the fine, he would undergo another jail term of 6 months. The period the accused had passed in jail during the trial of the case would be adjusted in the punishment, the court further observed.According to additional district government counsel Ravindra Awasthi, Ashu Devi in her complaint alleged that on March 1, 2016 around 9 pm her husband Ajay Sharma, after closing his shop, was going to Gayatri Temple Panki Road. While he was on the way, some unidentified persons shot him dead from behind the Gayatri Devi Temple. She, with the help of the police, took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.The police arrested accused Saurabh Kumar Pandey near a guest house on March 6, 2016. During the search, the police recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridges from his possession. During the investigation, he revealed that he with the help of his friend Sandeep Tiwari had killed Ajay Sharma by a country-made pistol on March 1, 2016. A dispute regarding a money transaction was the reason behind the murder, the ADGC said.Bail rejected: The additional sessions judge Kanpur Nagar dismissed the anticipatory bail application of accused Tauheed, a resident of Belgaum Kolkata, accused of cheating.The additional district government counsel opposing the bail application stated that complainant Dwarika Nath Tandon had a bank account at PNB Lajpat Nagar branch. He had a BSNL mobile connection registered in his bank account. Around ten days back, he had applied to port his BSNL number to Jio. The BSNL number was registered with his bank account. During the port process, his phone was used by some Jio employees. One of the employees had withdrawn Rs 3.50 lakh and transacted the amount to his bank account in the HDFC BankThe accused, on the other hand, claimed that he was a student and a resident of Kolkata and had been framed in the case. The complainant had a joint savings account at PNB Lajpat Nagar branch that he used to operate through his partner Suman Tandon. On November 13, someone had deposited Rs 3.5 lakh in his account and the same day some other unidentified person withdrew the amount through a debit card, the accused submitted.The court in its order observed that technical analysis proved that the applicant-accused had taken out Rs 3,49,500 from the complainant’s account and deposited the same in his account, and it was a case of cyber cheating. Since evidence was being collected and the nature of the offence was of serious nature, therefore, the anticipatory bail application was being dismissed.
