Two robbers, SI injured in encounter in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: Two robbers were injured and arrested while their 16-year-old accomplice was detained after an encounter with Bhognipur police in Kanpur Dehat, police said. Sub-inspector Abhishek Chauhan also got injured as a bullet grazed his hand in exchange of firing.Bhognipur police station personnel were patrolling late at night when they spotted three suspects near Baraur Road culvert. Seeing the police, the suspects tried to escape on a bike and opened fire at the officers. In retaliatory firing by the police, the miscreants sustained bullet injury and were caught.Two miscreants, identified as Nitesh and Raju Kashyap of Bara village, sustained bullet injury in their legs and were admitted to hospital. Their 16-year-old accomplice was taken into custody.They had recently carried out bag and chain snatching incidents, said CO Bhognipur Sanjay Singh said. "Information about their associates is being gathered," Singh added.
