Two get life term in murder case

Kanpur: Additional sessions judge Kanpur Nagar Azad Singh on Tuesday convicted two accused--Shankar and Tinku—to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 each for committing murder.The judge in his order observed that fifty percent of the fine amount (Rs 10,000) be given to the family members of the victim. According to additional district government counsel Vinod Tripathi , the prosecution had charged nine persons for committing murder, but the court acquitted seven of them for want of evidence.The incident had taken place at 11.20 pm on October 10, 2020. Gautam Kumar, brother of deceased Amit Kumar in his complaint stated that his brother Amit Kumar had gone to Goodar Basti Brahma Nagar for some work. Abhishek, Gaurav alias Gorey Lal, Sanjay, Manish, Ashish, Shankar, Harshit, Raj and Tinku accosted Amit near Chandu tea stall and due to old enmity killed him by hitting with bricks and tiles. The culprits ran away from the spot when the complainant and his brother-in-law Sunil Kumar Valmiki reached there. The prosecution charged the nine accused under sections 147/302/504/506 IPC and produced as many as 8 witnesses in the case. The court held Shankar and Tinku guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment. tnn
