Two drown in Ganga in 24 hours

KANPUR: Two persons drowned in the Ganga in the past 24 hours in the district.
According to police, in the first incident, Sahil Gupta (22), son of Chhotey Lal of Nawri Bangla in Jalaun district, was feared drowned at Sarsaiyya Ghat on Saturday. The victim, who was staying at a rented house in Gwaltoli along with his friends, had gone to the ghat on the occasion of `Ganga Dussehra'.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy drowned in the Ganga after he slipped and fell into the river at Ganga Barrage on Friday. The victim was identified as Ajay, a resident of Barra. The incident took place on Friday evening while he was playing with his friends at the Ganga barrage, police said.
