NEW DELHI: A journalist was killed in a knife attack in the Sadar Kotwali area of Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, while his colleague sustained serious injuries. Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the incident.
Dilip Saini, 45, a local correspondent, was attacked by a group wielding knives near the Bhitaura bypass on Wednesday night. His colleague, Shahid Khan, was injured while attempting to assist him.
Saini was rushed to a Kanpur hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Khan is currently undergoing treatment.
The police registered a case based on a complaint from Saini's wife, naming seven individuals and several unknown assailants.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a land dispute may have motivated the attack. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
