Three convicted for opening fire on police

Additional district and sessions judge (V) Amarjeet Tripathi on Tuesday convicted three persons for opening fire on police and sentenced them to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2,000 on each.

KANPUR: Additional district and sessions judge (V) Amarjeet Tripathi on Tuesday convicted three persons for opening fire on police and sentenced them to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2,000 on each.
The convicted persons were Nawab Singh Yadav, Ashok Gautam and Chandrashekher. According to additional district government counsel Vijay Agnihotri, one Padma Bhushan Tripathi was killed in Bithoor on August 14, 2003.

The accused were arrested after five days. At the time of their arrest, they had opened fire on police in a bid to escape.
Two cops had sustained pellet injuries in that firing.
All the three accused had been sentenced to life imprisonment in 2009 in the murder case. Now they had been punished for opening fire on the police.
