KANPUR: Reports of two suspected swine flu patients whose samples were sent to KGMU in Lucknow on Monday have come out to be positive.
Additional CMO Dr Arvind Yadav confirmed that pathology report of Meenu (30), a resident of Shuklaganj in Unnao district who died in a private hospital three days back, and that of Haroon (54) who is admitted to 7 Airforce Hospital have come positive.
However, reports of 10 other patients sent to KGMU for confirmatory tests have come out to be negative. “Out of the 12 samples, 10 have tested negative. Our team has provided medicines to the attendants of Haroon, who is a resident of Rae Bareilly. We have also informed the CMO of Rae Bareilly about the case,” he said. “On Monday, we sent another four samples of suspected swine flu patients to KGMU for confirmation,” said Dr Yadav.
The saliva samples that were sent on Wednesday include that of Maruth Behra, Divyansh, Anay and Ishan. Their reports are expected to come by Thursday evening. While Maruth, Divyansh and Anay are admitted in IDH, the other two are admitted in a private hospital. Incidentally, Meenu’s son Divyansh is undergoing treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) of Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital with symptoms of swine flu. “Reports of Meenu have confirmed that she was carrying the H1N1 virus. Her one-year-old son Divyansh has been admitted while showing the symptoms of H1N1 virus. His sample has been sent to KGMU. He is being treated under Dr Yashwant Rao. His condition is under control,” the additional CMO told TOI.
Till date, 37 suspected cases have been reported here. Out of these, five have tested to positive. While three positive patients have died, two including Divyanshu Singh and Haroon are carrying the virus. A total of 27 cases were found to be negative. Reports of five suspected patients are awaited.
