Suspected cow smugglers pelt stones at Mathura cop
Agra: A policeman, Mohd Amjad, was injured when suspected cow smugglers pelted stones at him when he tried to block their mini-truck on Shergarh road under Kosikala police station jurisdiction in Mathura on Saturday night.
The injured policeman was immediately rushed to hospital. He was placed under observation as he sustainedserious injuries on his forehead and nose.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10 pm after the police were tipped-off about the suspected cow smugglers. The personnel of the Police Response Vehicle (PRV) immediately rushed to the area and set up a road block for the vehicle.
When the vehicle approached the road block. Amzad tried to stop it but the vehicle inmates pelted stones at him before fleeing.
Talking with TOI, SP (rural) Aditya Shukla said a case of attempt to murder has been registered against unidentified people. He said the accused have not been arrested so far. Due to darkness, police could not see their faces. Iinvestigations are on.
