SI, 4 constables & two others booked for kidnapping farmer

Kanpur: A case of kidnapping has been registered against a sub-inspector, four unidentified constables and two people involved in illegal mining of ‘maurang’ (gravel).According to reports, the matter pertains to Naraini Kotwali police station area which took place about two months ago. Jagatpal, a resident of Bilharka village and a farmer had sown gram in his field. His crop used to get damaged due to the movement of tractors involved in illegal mining of gravel.He tried to stop the tractors involved in illegal mining and even approached the police, but the then Kotwali police station in charge allegedly took no action. After a complaint to the higher officials, action was taken against those involved in illegal mining following which they were angry with Jagatpal.It is alleged that the outpost in-charge -Kaushal Singh, four constables along with two persons involved in illegal mining came to Jagatpal’s house and forcibly took him away. Jagatpal’s mother -Manni Devi went to the police outpost the next day and inquired about her son, but the policemen on duty did not give her any information. She also went to senior authorities, but did not get any relief.Later, she approached the chief judicial magistrates court alleging her son’s murder. After hearing the case, the court on Wednesday ordered a case against SI, four unidentified constables and two people. The police are investigating the matter.Kotwali in-charge inspector Arvind Singh Gaur said that on the orders of the court, a report has been registered against the then Kartal outpost in-charge Kaushal Singh, four unidentified constables and two locals -Mangal Patel and Devidin.
