Seven arrested, Rs 39 lakh recovered

KANPUR: With the arrest of seven people, the citty polic claim to have recovered nearly Rs 39 lakh in Kalyanpur area from them.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kalyanpur police station nabbed seven people from a house in Tulsinagar area of the City. Jitendra Vyas, Prithviraj Solanki, Ajay Singh Solanki, Ishwar Singh Solanki, Pankaj Thakur, Kunwar Singh Jadeja and Sahdeo Solanki, all residents of Patan district of Gujarat, were detained and several bags containing cash worth Rs 38,87,870 lakh, besides a currency counting machine were recovered from them," informed SSP Yashasvi Yadav.
Preliminary investigations into the case suggest the arrested were a part of a thriving hawala racket, which routes money from Uttar Pradesh to Gujarat to Maharashtra, Anand Prakash Mishra the Kalyanpur police station in-charge added.
