Receptionist accuses hotel operator of sexual assault

Kanpur: A hotel receptionist in Singhpur under Bithoor police station has accused the hotel operator of raping her inside a room, allegedly under the pretext of switching on the air conditioner. Acting on her written complaint, police have registered a case and launched raids to arrest the accused.In her FIR, the 24-year-old woman, a resident of Kalyanpur, alleged that on Monday afternoon hotel operator Yuvraj Singh, a resident of Jorawar in Chaubepur, called her in a room to turn on the AC. The receptionist alleged she was raped inside the hotel room. Following the incident, she approached Bithoor police station and lodged a written complaint.Acting on her statement, police sent her for medical examination and registered an FIR against the accused.Inspector, Bithoor, Ashok Kumar Saroj said that a report was filed and efforts were on to nab the accused. The initial enquiry indicated that the accused is serving in the army. He also stated that the victim and hotel staff are being questioned and their statements recorded. CCTV camera footage is also being reviewed, he added.
