Kanpur: A joint team of CBI and UP STF has arrested Ramesh Shivhare, a key accused in the Madhya Pradesh's Vyapam scam.
The arrest was made on the intervening night of Tuesday/Wednesday. Shivhare is said to be the prime accused of the Vyapam scam. He was interrogated in the Kalyanpur police station in the city on late Tuesday night. Shivhare had been on a run since his name figured in the Vyapam scam.
The CBI had been tracing him since then. A reward of Rs 5000 was declared on his head.
Shivhare, who belongs to Mahoba in UP, was hiding in the Kalyanpur area of Kanpur from where he was taken into custody first and later brought to the Kalyanpur police station for questioning. CBI would be taking him to Bhopal today for further interrogation.
