Praveen retained as senior selection chief
Kanpur: Praveen Kumar and Kamal Kant Kanaujia were appointed chairmen of the senior and junior selection committees, respectively, at the Annual General Meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association on Thursday. The newly elected body also announced the members of various committees constituted for the development of cricket in the state.The elected body retained former Test player Praveen Kumar as chairman of the senior selection committee, with Rizwan Shamshad, Ashish Winston Zaidi, Mrituanjay Tripathi, and Utkarsh Chandra named as members of the committee. Kamal Kant Kanaujia was appointed chairman of the junior selection committee. He will be joined by Brijendra Singh, Ranjeet Yadav, Arvind Solanki, and Zahid Ali. Priyanka Shally was appointed chairperson of the women's selection committee, with Kashmira Jain, Shweta Singh, Seema Sinha, and Chammta Srivastava as members. Former Test cricketer and selector Gopal Sharma will continue to head the talent committee. He will lead the committee comprising Aslam Ali, Sanjay Rastogi, Ratnesh Mishra, and Abhhinav Dixit. In total, UPCA announced the formation of 24 sub-committees for the 2025–26 season. Committees: (Cricket Development Committee) Arvind Srivastava (chairman), Anand Pathak (convener), Ahmed Ali Khan, Mohan Lal Agarwal, BD Shukla, AP Singh, Jay Prakash Singth, Abhishek Shukla, Jamal Akhtar and Anis Rajput (all members); (Women Cricket Governing Council) Navneet Sehgal (chairman), Mohd Fahim (convener), Neetu David, Ishrat Mohd (ex-officio honorary secretary), ex-officio treasurer and CEO (members), (Disciplinary Committee) – GN Tewari (chairman), Pradeep Gupta, BD Shukla, Sajid Umar, Ajay Mishra (all members); (Media Committee) Mohd Fahim (chairman), Sanjay Kapoor (co-chairman), Ahmad Ali Khan (convener), Fasahat Ali, Vikas Kumar Sharma (all members); (Ground and Pitch Committee) VA Javed (chairman), BD Shukla (convenor), Mahesh Gupta, Sanjay Agarwal, RB Agarwal, Vikram Agarwal, Sanjay Sahil, Rohit Chaudhary (all members) (UPCA Advisory Committee) Pradeep Gupta (chairman), Sitaram Saxena (co-chairman), Khaliq M Khan (convener), Tahir Hassan, Vijay Gupta (all members).
