Powerlifting team selected for national championship

Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Powerlifting Association on Monday announced state team for the National Bench Press Championship, scheduled to be held in Sonipat, Haryana from Sept 13 to 16.The team was selected based on selection trials conducted at Power Hub Gym in Kanpur on Sunday last, which witnessed the participation of 110 power lifters from various corners of the state. The UP team is poised to compete in the sub-junior, junior, senior and masters categories, as stated by Rahul Shukla, the secretary of the UP Power Lifting Association.The members of the UP team are as follows:Men – Deepak Kumar Gautam, Priyanshu Raj, Ojas Srivastava, Anurag Verma, Sudhanshu Singh, Suraj Tiwari, Rohit Gupta, Narayan Dwivedi, Rahul Kumar, Mohit Kumar Verma, Vikrant Pandey, Ajay Chaudhary, Aditya Agarwal, Shreyansh Mishra, Abhishek Rajpoot, Aryan Kumar, Mohit Katihar, Deven Naithani, Shubhankar Kundu, Ajay Chaudhary.Women – Poonam Singh, Tapasya Gautam, Nipun Mahi Katiyar.Special Handball & Skating – Kanpur clinched silver medal in the handball event held under the auspices of UP Special Olympic Bharat recently. In the skating championship, Adarsh Malhotra secured a gold in the 100 meters event and a silver in the 50 meters competition. Parh Khandelwal bagged a gold in the 100 meters and a silver in the 50 meters skating event.
