Police invoke Gangsters Act against former block pramukh, seize property worth crores

Kanpur: Police have enforced the Gangster Act against former block pramukh Nawab Singh and seized his hotel in the Tirwa Kotwali area in Kannauj district over allegations of assault and rape. Police personnel from Gursahaiganj, Sadar Kannauj, and Tirwa Kotwali carried out the operation.
The action was taken following allegations of assault and rape of a minor against Nawab Singh. On the directives of SP Kannauj, Amit Kumar Anand, the district police invoked section 14 (1) of the Gangster Act to take possession of Chandan Hotel worth Rs 11,63,22,000.
The hotel, obtained through unlawful activities, was registered in the names of accused Nawab Singh Yadav and Veerpal alias Neelu Yadav, both sons of the late Chet Ram from village Adangapur, police station Kotwali Kannauj, district Kannauj. A rape incident was reported on August 11, 2024 at a Degree College in Nasrapur, owned by former block head Nawab Singh Yadav. The victim contacted the police via telephone, leading to Nawab Singh Yadav's arrest.
