VARANASI: A number of tax-related issues ranging from income tax on shares and securities to VAT and service tax were discussed in various technical sessions on the concluding day of the two-day National Tax Conference -2009 in the city on Sunday.
While the experts including Kishore B Karia, chartered accountant, Mumbai said that small investors must refrain from investment in share market during the ongoing economic recession, Bharatji Aggrawal, national president, All India Federation of Tax Practitioner raised the issue of discrepancy in UP VAT including changes in forms on the occasion.

The programme also witnessed a Brain Trust session, where lawyers on tax laws and other tax professionals responded to the queries of participants. Justice BS Chauhan, Chief Justice, Cuttack HC, Orissa was the chief guest of the valedictory function. The AIFTP (North Zone) organised the two-day programme.
