MP beats UP in Mushtaq Ali tournament
Kanpur: Rajat Patidar’s fine knock of 68 runs and his fourth wicket partnership with Venkatesh Iyer for 80 runs in 59 balls, enabled Madhya Pradesh beat UP by 4 wickets in Syed Mushtaq Ali T-20 cricket tournament, being played at Dehradun’s Maharana Pratap College ground, on Friday.After being invited to bat first, UP posted a total of 135 for 7 in 20 overs. Madhya Pradesh chased the target of 136 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. MP, losing its top three wickets for 33 runs in 5.5 overs, was in critical position. At this juncture, Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer combined in the middle and executed the best 80 runs partnership for the fourth wicket which made the target easy. Rajat hit 68 runs with the help of 6 boundaries and 3 sixes in 45 deliveries. Venkatesh, later in company of Mohd Arshad Khan, completed the formality of victory. Rajat was caught behind by Dhruv Chand of Yash Dayal. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar and Mohsin Khan claimed captain Shubham Sharma ( 6) and Ajay Rohera (13) respectively. For UP, both Mohsin Khan and Yash Dayal bagged 2 wickets each.Opener Abhishek Goswami was the highest scorer for UP with 32 runs. He and Sameer Rizvi executed a best 43 runs partnership for the fourth wicket in 34 balls. Sameer Rizvi scored 31 runs in 27 balls hitting 1 six and 2 boundaries.
