Molestation bid leads to tension in Kamalganj

KANPUR: Tension gripped Kamalganj locality of Farrukhabad following alleged molestation of a girl by a local rowdy and his aides on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the rowdy, identified as Naushad of Nagla Dawood in Kamalganj resorted to firing when girl’s family offered resistance. This led to panic in the area. Later, angry family members of the girl and locals gheraoed the Kamalganj police station.
The incident took place in Nai Basti locality, close to Kamalganj, when alleged history-sheeter Israel along with his aides barged into the house of a girl and tried to outrage her modesty. Following the firing, a large number of residents rushed to the site and challenged the miscreants.
After the miscreants fled from the scene, locals gheraoed the police station. They relented only after senior police officers arrived on the scene and assured them of tough action against the perpetrators of crime.
"A case has been registered and raids are underway to nab the accused, besides a route march was also conducted to ease tension in the area,” said superintendent of police Jogendra Kumar.
