Medical reps given I-cards

KANPUR: The Kanpur unit of UP Medical Representatives Association on Monday distributed identity cards to its registered members at Ram Asrey Memorial Centre.
"The I-cards have been issued for the compliance with section 8 & 25 of the Trade Union Act, Drug and Magic Remedies Act 1967 read with section 2(d) of the Drug and Cosmetic Act," informed secretary local unit Arvind Tiwari.
Releasing the I-cards, additional labour commissioner Pradeep Srivastava said only medical representatives who worked under the Sales Promotion Employees Act could perform the job. He also announced an accident cover Rs 1 lakh for its members.
President of Kanpur unit Vinay Mehrotra said the aim of releasing the I-cards to medical representatives was to establish smooth coordination among doctors, chemists and medical representatives.
