Kanpur: A man allegedly tied his 22-year-old alcoholic son to a tree and beat him to death in

Bidhnoo

’s Dhirpur village late Sunday night.
According to police, a heated argument had taken place between

Iqbal

Singh and his son Bablu, who was in an inebriated state, at their home in Dhirpur village of Bidhnoo. Angry with his son for often quarrelling with him and the other family members after consuming alcohol, Iqbal allegedly tied

Bablu

to a ‘ber’ tree and repeatedly hit him with a stick.
Bablu later succumbed to injuries, police said, adding that Iqbal and his two sons have been taken into custody for questioning.
According to villagers, Bablu after the beating was left tied to the tree all night. In the morning, when his younger brother

Rohit

reached there to inquire about his well being, Bablu was already dead.
At this, he raised the alarm. Later, the family including Bablu’s father started preparations to cremate Bablu.
However, when Rishi, his elder brother living in the outskirts, came to know about the incident, he rushed to the spot and protested and alerted the police about the incident. The police took the accused father and two other brothers of the victim into custody and initiated an investigation after dispatching the body to the mortuary.
Inspector Bidhnoo Amit Kumar Mishra said that the youth was an alcoholic, due to which his father got angry and tied him to the tree and beat him up severely.
The father and the two brothers have been taken into custody and are being interrogated. “Further action will be based upon the autopsy report and other evidence, besides eyewitnesses,” said Mishra further.
