KANPUR: A man and son were convicted by additional district and sessions judge of Ramabai Nagar Mohammad Aslam on Saturday for murdering the elder son and sentenced for life imprisonment.
The man was identified as Rajjan Lal while his son’s named is Dinesh Kumar Verma. Rajesh Kumar Verma, elder son of Rajjan Lal, was murdered. Rajjan Lal had a family business of ornaments and jewels in Pukhrayan.
A dispute had arose between them and elder son Rajesh Kumar Verma. The latter had asked his share as he was willing to conduct his own business.
To discuss the issue a meeting was held on May 17, 2007 at their residence. Rajjan, Dinesh Kumar, Rajesh, his wife and two brothersin-law took part in the meeting. During the discussion, Rajesh accused his father of shifting the property of shop to other places. This led to heated arguments. Rajjan Lal whip out his revolver and threaten to kill Rajesh. Dinesh Kumar opened fire on Rajesh from his SBBL gun. Injured Rajesh fell on the ground. His wife and brothers-in-law took him to Pukhrayan hospital. He referred to Regency Hospital in Kanpur where the doctors declared him dead.
During the trial, Rajjan and Dinesh Kumar pleaded that complainant Ved Prakash, who is also the brother-in-law of Rajesh had killed him.
