KANPUR: A man killed his wife and her suspected lover in Jalna’s Tikri village on Thursday night.
Kunwar Singh (28) attacked the two victims with an axe after discovering them in a compromising position upon his late-night return home.
The male victim, Chhavi Nath (40), also a resident of the same village, died on the spot. Singh’s wife, Arti (30), succumbed to her injuries shortly after. The attack has left the village in shock, with locals alerting authorities as the violent commotion unfolded.
According to authorities, Kunwar Singh had temporarily left his home on Wednesday evening. During his absence, Arti invited Chhavi Nath to their home, where they were found by Singh upon his return. Enraged by the sight, Singh attacked both with an axe.
The police were notified by villagers who heard the commotion but found the accused had already fled. Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene and initiated post-mortem procedures for both victims.
The accused was arrested and is currently being questioned by the police.
Circle officer Shailendra Kumar Bajpayee confirmed that the killings were motivated by an extramarital affair. “The accused has been arrested, his questioning is underway, and we are investigating the incident from all angles,” he stated.
