Major fire breaks out in village in Ghatampur

Kanpur: A major fire broke out at Asenia village under Saadh police station in Ghatampur area of the district on Wednesday in which 12 houses, made of thatch and wood, have been reduced to ashes. Except for a calf, which was charred to death, no loss of human life was reported.
According to the villagers, the fire, which was beyond control soon, spread to other houses.The villagers doused the flames by pouring water, but that was not of much help. Most of the houses in this village are made of thatch and wood.
A district official said that at least 12 houses had been completely gutted in the fire. It is being said that the blaze started due to a spark from a stove.
Station house officer Mansoor Ahmed said, “The fire has been controlled with the help of the villagers. The administration is making assessment of the damage”. TNN
