LS polls: BJP, Cong candidates file nominations for Kanpur Nagar seat
Kanpur: Ramesh Awasthi of BJP and Alok Mishra of INDIA Alliance (Congress) on Saturday filed their nomination papers before the returning officer of Kanpur Nagar Lok Sabha constituency.Besides them, Valendra Katiyar of Socialist Union of India (Communist), Ram Gopal of Rashtriya Utthan Party and Ashok Paswan, of Sabhi Jan Party too filed their nomination papers for Akbarpur parliamentary constituency. Both Ram Gopal and Ashok Paswan presented their candidature in two sets. Similarly, Alok Mishra and Ramesh Awasthi also filed two sets of nomination papers.The two national party candidates-- Ramesh Awasthi of BJP and Alok Mishra of INDIA Alliance reached the Collectorate with their supporters and filed their papers.Talking to media persons, after filing his nomination, Alok Mishra said, “I believe that voters of Kanpur are going to change their representative because the then Congress MP Sriprakash Jaiswal initiated some development projects which were stopped when BJP MP was elected and since the last ten years the city did not witness any development work”, he said.He said he is getting overwhelming response from Kanpurites. Replying to a question as to why Congress leaders are leaving the party, Mishra stated that only those are leaving the party who have lost faith and belief in the party.Ramesh Awasthi, the BJP candidate, reached the Collectorate around 2.10 pm with a procession comprising scores of party volunteers. They were carrying party flags and raising slogans and thus violating all norms laid down by the Election Commission.After filing two sets of his nomination paper, Awasthi claimed that BJP is going to get a clear majority.“The country is now the fifth biggest economy of the world and soon will become the third biggest economy. Irrespective of any caste and creed, the people belonging to the poor class are getting benefit of all government schemes”, he added.Meanwhile, three aspirants purchased nomination papers to contest for Akbarpur parliamentary seat. They are Ashu Saini (Jan Sangh), Sanjeev Kumar (Spashtwadi Jan Aadhar Party), Vijay Narayan Pal (Rashtriya Kinnar Party). Pal purchased four sets of nomination papers while others just one set.In Kanpur Nagar, eight candidates purchased nomination papers to contest the election. All of them purchased just one set. They are Alok Mishra (Independent), Deepak Mishra (Independent), Rakesh Kumar Dixit (Jan Sangh), Mohit Kumar Sahu (Spashtwadi Jan Aadhar Party), Tej Bahadur Singh (Jan Sangh), Satnam Singh (Independent) and Manoj Kumar Bahujan Mukti Party. All of them purchased one set of nomination papers.
