KANPUR: The cops are struggling to solve an alleged kidnapping case. According to reports, a three-year-old boy was reportedly abducted from outside his home in Ismailganj locality of Fatehpur district on Friday.
The incident had caused a flutter on Friday night at the Kanpur Central railway station when the family members of the boy, on the basis of information that kidnapper and the boy were spotted onboard the Sangam Express, apprised their relatives in Kanpur who alerted the GRP and RPF authorities. Thereafter, a search was conducted in the train as well as at the station.
According to railways circle officer S S Yadav, a case in this regard has been lodged at the Fatehpur Kotwali police station.
The boy, identified as Asad, son of Anwar, a cold storage owner and resident of Ismailganj, had gone missing from outside his house on Friday evening.
According to Anwar, on getting information that the child and the kidnapper were spotted at Kanpur Central railway station, he apprised his in-laws about the same in the Industrial City.
The in-laws of Anwar immediately left for the railway station on Friday night in search of the boy. There, they came across a suspicious looking person along with Asad, who was loitering at the station's platform number one.
On raising alarm, the suspected person escaped from there and boarded the Sangam Express along with the child.
Later, the GRP and RPF officials were informed about it. The cops launched a manhunt but to no avail.
The police have detained a few suspects including the domestic help of Anwar in this regard.
Asad's father has not received any ransom call since the child disappeared, said a police official.
