Voting for KBA polls to be conducted in DAV College
Kanpur: The voting to elect new office bearers of Kanpur Bar Association will be conducted at DAV Degree College on Thursday. Around 6,516 advocates will cast their ballots at 15 booths at the college t determine the 21-member executive body. Despite the directives issued by the Elders Committee, the contestants took out processions in the court campus and hosted lunches for their supporters and other member advocates during court hours on Wednesday, followed by evening gatherings at guest houses.The elders committee had designated the area from DAV Degree College to the Christian cemetery as a red zone, prohibiting any advertising material, and had requested the contestants to remove their hoardings. A total of 99 advocates are in fray for 21 positions, with 8 candidates contesting for key posts of president and general secretary.Candidates Ramendra Singh Katiyar, Dinesh Shukla, Sarvesh Kushwaha, Sandeep Kumar Singh, Surendra Kumar Kushwaha, Braj Kishore Shukla, Pran Nath Mishra, and Indeevar Bajpai are contesting for the president's post. Ramendra Katiyar has previously been elected as president in 2011, while Dinesh Shukla, Sarvesh Kushwaha, Sandeep Kumar Singh, and Indivar Bajpai have served as general secretary in the past. Eight contenders Ramji, Vinay Kumar Mishra, Hemendra Kumar Srivastava, Prashant Kumar Bajpai, Srikant Mishra, Susheel Kumar Singh, Amit Singh, and Chandra Shekhar Tiwari are running for the position of general secretary while five candidates are vying for the treasurer's post. Meanwhile, advocate members obtained QR code slips for voting scheduled for Thursday.
