KANPUR: A day after his nephew and close aide Amar Dubey was killed, another close associate of gangster Vikas Dubey was shot dead in an encounter with UP police in Kanpur's Panki on Thursday morning.
"The encounter took place near Panki in Kanpur when a STF team was bringing Prabhat Mishra to Kanpur on transit remand. He was arrested in Faridabad on Wednesday," said Prashant Kumar, UP ADG law and order.
The criminal was picked up from Faridabad and was being brought to Kanpur in police custody. According to report, he was trying to escape after snatching a pistol from a cop.
Since the ambush on a police team by Dubey and his henchmen last Friday, three alleged accomplices of the gangster have been killed and 10 arrested, in addition to the two policemen. All 68 personnel at the Chaubeypur police station were sent to the reserve police lines.
