A jeweller was shot in Fatehpur and a bag containing jewellery looted while he was on way to his shop on Friday morning.

KANPUR: A jeweller was shot in Fatehpur and a bag containing jewellery looted while he was on way to his shop on Friday morning.
Ashutosh Shukla had left Jahanabad home for his shop in a car with his uncle Ramakant Shukla. The robbers travelling in an SUV intercepted them near Meghanpur-Lokaiyakheda Road.
They tried to snatch the bag. The robbers opened fire when the jeweler resisted.

Ashutosh died on the spot.
The assailants escaped with the bag containing 15 kgs of silver ornaments and 400 gms of gold, besides Rs 35,000 in cash. Local residents informed police.
The assailants spared Ashutosh's uncle when he pleaded for mercy.
The family members and locals of the area staged demonstration after placing the body of Shukla in the middle of the road. They demanded immediate arrest of his killers.
Superintendent of police Rajiv Mehrotra reached the spot and assured the agitators of prompt action into loot case. The police would record the statements of Ashutosh's uncle and his family members.
An FIR has been registered with Jahanabad police. A sketch of the robbers would be prepared with the help of Ashutosh's uncle.
