Incessant rain turns weather pleasant
KANPUR: Kanpurites woke up to a pleasant weather on Wednesday morning due to heavy downpour during the night. It rained during the day as well and city's rainfall record till late Wednesday evening was 26.6 mm.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.4 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature recorded was 22 degree Celsius. The short duration of rain, however, increased the moisture content in air and humidity levels (maximum, minimum) were as high as 93 per cent and 83 per cent.
"As expected, the easterlies are aiding cloud formation. The temperature is likely to remain low for another day," predicted Anurudh Dubey, weather scientist, CSA.
Kanpurites, meanwhile, enjoyed the weather to the maximum. A cup of hot coffee at the terrace garden, a long drive, a stroll on the wet streets or relishing roasted corn on ghats -- people did everything to enjoy the godsend weather on Wednesday evening.
Abhishek Kapoor, who was caught sipping hot coffee with his friends at a coffee shop in Naveen Market, said: "It seemed criminal to sit at home and waste the beautiful evening. So, my friends and I decided to make the most of it."
However, in ugly contrast to enjoyment, commuters suffered on waterlogged and potholed roads. The traffic, as usual, crawled on a rainy day.
