KANPUR: A major
fire
broke out at the pharmacy of a private
hospital
in Panki area on Sunday morning. However, no causalities were reported in the incident.
Patients from maternity ward of the hospital, close to the phramacy, had to be evacuated as the fire spread to other parts of the hospital. The OPD and emergency unit were also evacuated.
According to reports flames were noticed at the pharmacy of Marygold hospital on Panki Temple road in early hours of Sunday.
It is suspected that the fire was caused by electric short-circuit. SHO Ajay Pratap Singh said that two fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.
The pharmacy run by one Kamal Pandey of Keshav Puram was gutted. “A patient Vandana Dubey at the maternity ward was shifted to the safer place,” said
Anand Tiwari, manager of the hospital.
