KANPUR: Taking cognizance of a criminal writ petition filed by one Priya Shukla, the Allahabad high court ordered officer incharge of Pheelkhana police station, Kanpur nagar, to appear in person in the court on December 17 to explain as to why proper action had not been taken against the accused, and what steps had been taken by the police to protect the life of the petitioner.
After hearing the petition of Priya Shukla, the division bench of the high court, comprising Justice Ravindara Singh and Justice Mohd Tahir its order dated December 10, also directed SSP, Kanpur nagar, to provide protection to the petitioner so that she could appear in her examinations.
Priya Shukla in her writ petition alleged that the accused Shiv Prasad Shukla alias Bachcha Guru is a history sheeter against whom 22 criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder are pending in various courts. Even Goonda Act was also slapped against him.
The petitioner, who is a student of B.Sc in DG college, said that she was not being alowed even to leave her house situated in Pheelkhana police station by the accused.
The petitioner claimed that she had lodged three FIRs against accused Shiv Prasad Shukla alias Bachcha Guru and his sons Prince Shukla and Mayank Shukla as they had thrashed her and her family members on September 19, October 2 and and October 26 respectively. Despite her reports, the Pheelkhana police did not take any action against the accused, she alleged.
