Kanpur: Harsh Sporting drubbed the challenge of Maqbool Club by 4-1 in the super league of martyr Capt Ayush Yadav memorial district football league played at Palika stadium on Monday.The two teams were tied at 1-1 at half time but a double yellow card to Anas proved dear to Maqbool Club and they had to play with ten players. Harsh Sporting used the opportunity and struck three goals.Harsh Sporting took the lead in the 16th minute when outside right Pratham Singh collected a forward pass of Adarsh Yadav and beat the goal keeper of Maqbool Club by a bullet like right footer for goal. Maqbool Club brought parity at the end of the first half when they got a penalty outside the box and Yash Kumar did not make any mistake.In the second half, when Anas of Maqbool Club had to leave the ground for rough play Abhishek Thapa and Akash Verma scored goals in the 60th and 75th minute respectively. Aman Gaur completed the tally in dying moments when he converted a penalty into a goal.Basketball: Kanpur District Basketball Association will conduct selection trials to select its junior boys and girls team for the 33rd Junior Uttar Pradesh State Basketball championship at Puran Chandra Vidya Niketan School Barra on June 20. The state championship will be held at Hindustan College of Science and Technology Mathura from June 26 to July 1.According to Virendra Vikram Singh, honorary general secretary of Kanpur District Basketball Association, the players who have been born on or after January 1, 2005 will be eligible for this trial. Interested players must bring their original Nagar Nigam birth certificate and Aadhar card for document verification at the venue and report to Sudhanshu Shukla, president KDBA and Vinay Kumar Pandey, chairman KDBA.
