Kanpur: Four people were killed while two others were injured after a speeding four-wheeler collided head-on with the truck near Afzalpur village of Bidhnu on Kanpur-Sagar highway on Monday night.
The car was badly damaged and the police had to cut it’s body and rescue the trapped people.The injured have been admitted to the Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital.The police have identified the deceased as Nitin Chowdhary (17), Sandeep (19), Nitin Chaurasia (18) and Dileep (21), all residents of Shivrajpur
The incident took place at around 11 pm on Monday night when the driver of the car tried to overtake a vehicle and collided head-on with the speeding truck coming from the opposite direction, the police said, adding that the vehicle overturned after impact and fell into a roadside ditch.
On being informed, a team from Bidhnu police station rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation, the police said.The injured were taken to the Community Health Centre at Bidhnu where the doctors declared two of them brought dead while two others died at the Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) hospital, said

Singh said the car bearing a Delhi registration number was going towards Ghatampur when it collided with the speeding truck.The police said eight youths of Shivrajpur had gone to attend a reception of their friend’s marriage in Ramaipur.After dropping two occupants here, they moved towards Ghatampur, he said. Near Matiyara village, their car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so strong that the car blew up with a loud noise. After the collision, the truck also went uncontrolled and fell into a roadside ditch, he added.
