Kanpur: The cyber-crime branch busted a gang and arrested four people, including a woman, for frauds using messaging apps with Pakistani IP addresses.DCP (Crime) Shravan Kumar Singh said information was received on the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre's Pratibimb portal about a Kanpur mobile number being used in crimes at several places.

The accused duped people by posing as customs officers or police officers using a deactivated mobile number and IP addresses from Islamabad, Pakistan. The deactivated number had a police profile picture and no alert message was generated as it was used on the service provider computer by the telecom company.Kamlesh Kumar Gautam and Vikas Gautam from Bahraich, Rakhi Mishra from Lakhimpur Kheri, and Deepak Sharma were arrseted and mobile phones, documents and other items in their posssession were seized. The search for other gang members continues.
