Four awarded lifer for murder

KANPUR: The additional district and sessions judge (I) of Kanpur Nagar on Monday convicted four persons, including three brothers, for and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 7,000 each.
The sentenced persons were identified as Vipin Tiwari, Sharad Chandra Tiwari, Arun Chandra Tiwari and Ashutosh Tripathi, all residents of Hanspuram.
According to the prosecution, the sentenced persons had opened fire on complainant Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, his brother Ajay Kumar and father Indra Kumar on March 6, 2007 near their residence. Indra Kumar had sustained bullet injuries while Ajay Kumar, who had also received bullet injuries, died in hospital. The complainant and accused were related and the crime was committed over a dispute.
