Five booked for missing man’s murder in Gwaltoli

Kanpur: On Thursday, five persons, including the son of a village head of Devnipurva, were booked for the murder of a man whose body was found floating in the Ganga on Wednesday. According to reports, Narendra (35), a resident of Gwaltoli area of the city, was missing from his house for the past three days. On Wednesday his body was found floating in the Ganga after which his family filed a murder case against the five persons with the Gwaltoli police on Thursday.Complainant Shiva Nishad said that his cousin Narendra lived next to his house. “He was a sand sculptor, besides he was also known for organising religious activities in the area,” he added.He alleged that village head’s sons Ravi, Deepak, Ankit and one Pintu of the village, all residents of Devnipurwa village, did not like his cousin’s religious activities and used to object to it.On Monday, Pintu took out Narendra with him, asking him to cooperate him in preparing sand idols. After this Narendra went missing under mysterious circumstances, he alleged. “We then lodged a complaint at Gwaltoli police station,” he said and added, “In the afternoon, Narendra’s body was found in the Ganga near the transmission tower at Champapurwa in Shuklaganj.”ACP Colonelganj Mohd Akmal Khan said that the matter is being investigated afterr registering an FIR under the relevant sections of IPC against the accused. “Further action will be taken after the arrival of the autopsy report and necessary findings,” he added.
