FIR names dead woman & minor, police commissioner takes note
Kanpur: A case was lodged against a dead woman and a six-year-old child from her family at Rawatpur police of the Commissionerate police.
As soon as the matter came to the knowledge of the commissioner of police, he did not order the withdrawal of both names but set up an inquiry into the matter.
In a complaint lodged on July 10, a woman from Panki police station area had accused a man identified as Karan Rajput, resident of Maswanpur, of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage.

She also lodged a complaint against Karan’s family members, in which she alleged that they had assaulted her and her family members during the reconciliation on July 5.
Acting on her complaint, the police subsequently booked a rape case against Karan and of initimidation, robbery and assault against his family members, including his dead aunt Kamla and their family’s six-year-old child.
When Karan’s mother Sheela Devi came to know about it, she approached the CP and accused the Rawatpur police of registering a case against her dead sister Kamla and a six-year-old child of her family.
As per Sheela Devi, her sister had died about 12 years ago.
The CP reprimanded the station in-charge, besides instructing him to remove names of the dead woman and the child from the FIR.
ACP Kalyanpur Vikas Kumar Pandey said, “The names of both have been removed and further action will be taken after investigation,” ACP added.
