KANPUR: The additional district and session judge IX of Kanpur Dehat Mukesh Mishra on Saturday convicted a father and his three sons in a murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000 on each. The sentenced persons were identified as Ram Prakash and his three sons Ganesh, Umesh and Dinesh, all residents of village Patkapur under Chobeypur police station. According to the prosecution version, Dinesh was married to Kanchan, daughter of Sri Narayan, a resident of Khanpur Khadia in Kannauj district on January 25, 2007. After the marriage, Dinesh and his family members were not satisfied with the gifts and dowry given to them at the time of marriage. They started torturing Kanchan, demanding more money. To satisfy them, Sri Narayan gave them Rs 50,000. But Dinesh and his family were not satisfied with that either and made demands for more. On June 26, 2009 Kanchan informed her father that things were not in her favour and she expressed that her life was in danger. Next day, Sri Narayan, his brother Ramanand, son Rajan and two other persons rushed to Dinesh's house. As soon as they reached, Dinesh, his brothers and father armed with lathis and sharp-edged weapons thrashed them severely. Villagers saved them and rushed all the injured to the hospital.
