KANPUR: Doctors took out a candlelight march against the arrest of their colleagues for being allegedly involved in taking bribe. Indian Medical Association (IMA) also decided to lodge an FIR against the persons involved in conducting the sting operation on the basis of which, the doctors were arrested.
Chief medical superintendent (CMS) Shailendra Tiwari and emergency medical officer (EMO) Nasir Husain of Ursula Horsman Hospital (UHM) were arrested on August 24 for allegedly taking money for making fake medico-legal documents.
Compounder Veer Pratap Singh Yadav of UHM Hospital and doctor BK Srivastava of KPM Hospital were also arrested on similar charges.
The IMA members and several doctors of UHM, KPM and Kashiram Hospital took part from the candle march which ended at Bharat Mata Pratima. They raised anti-police slogans and demanded probe into the alleged fake sting operation conducted by a social group. The IMA had decided to raise the issue with the chief minister and the health minister.
