KANPUR: District magistrate Vishak G Iyer on Thursday reprimanded the assistant basic shiksha adhikaris (ABSAs) and directed them to ensure the admission of children in those schools whose names had been drawn in the lottery. The district magistrate was conducting a review meeting for admissions of poor children in schools under the Right to Education.

He said, the right to education was in top priority of the state government and ensure that all eligible children get the benefit of it. He asked that the schools where the children had been admitted during previous years on the basis of the recognition of the school, it was the responsibility of the school to teach the child from beginning to the recognized level under the Right to Education scheme. The district magistrate directed them to prepare a list within a week.




He also asked them to give details at present how many children had been admitted under the RTE and how many children were studying in the school. The district magistrate asked Satyendra Kumar (ADM, land acquisition) to conduct weekly monitoring of the schools that have not taken admission of children under RTE.

Besides Surjeet Kumar, basic shiksha adhikari, all additional city magistrates and all additional basic shiksha adhikaris were present in the review meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium.
