DLSA concerned over low turnout of banks at the meeting for National Lok Adalat to be held on May 9
Kanpur: The meeting convened by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Monday witnessed a low turnout from banks, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled for May 9.
The meeting was organised to review and ensure active participation of banks in the Lok Adalat process, where various pending court cases are resolved through conciliation and settlement. The mechanism also facilitates resolution of loan recovery cases at the pre-litigation stage, allowing banks to settle disputes amicably without formal court proceedings.
According to the DLSA secretary, only four banks--UP Gramin Bank, Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and IDBI Bank--attended the meeting.
The poor representation of banks has become a matter of concern for the authority, as their active involvement is crucial for the effective disposal of cases during the Lok Adalat
