KANPUR: District judge Kanpur Nagar Ranjana Pandya and the district magistrate Sameer Verma, on Thursday, jointly inspected the district jail and interacted with asked the undertrials about the problems faced by them there.
Few undertrials complained that they were not given proper medical care and were not sent to hospital for treatment. They said the jail hospital lacked many health facilities for the treatment.

The two senior officials directed SSP kanpur Nagar to arrange adequate force so that the ailing undertrials could be sent to hospitals for their treatment. Since Durga Puja and other festivals were approaching near and the administration would require more police force to maintain law and order in the city therefore it was advised to manage the force at the earliest.
In a routine quarterly inspection, the two officials reached the jail at around 11.30 am and spent around one and a half hour there interacting with the inmates. According to jail superintendent PD Salonia the district judge and the DM inspected barrack number 8,9 and10 before that they visited the kitchen and hospital in the jail. They also inspected women and children barrack and expressed satisfaction over the condition there. The district judge also tasted the food prepared for jail inmates and observed that it was of satisfactory quality for human consumption.
