Designer crossing road while talking on phone hit by truck
Kanpur: A speeding truck ran over a designer Ishrat Khan (38), a resident of Yashoda Nagar, at Naubasta Chauraha in Kanpur on Tuesday afternoon when she was crossing road while talking on her phone. She died on the spot. The driver fled the scene with the truck after the accident.
Police informed her family about the accident with the help of documents found at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
Naubasta police station in-charge Bahadur Singh said that some eyewitnesses stated that the woman was talking on her phone while crossing the road when she was hit by the truck. “A report will be registered on receiving a written complaint.”
According to her family, Khan was returning after delivering designer dresses made for children to a school in Kakadeo. Family members said that she left home at 10am on Tuesday to deliver the dresses.
Khan, daughter of Yashoda Nagar resident and truck driver Ashraf, had been preparing designer garments for children since her graduation. She is survived by her mother Naseem, brother Hamza, and sisters Nusrat and Muntasha. Her mother said that her father went out for work and had not yet been informed of the incident.
