Deer injured in hit-and-run, rescued by forest team
Kanpur: A deer was seriously injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Farrukhabad–Badaun State Highway near Kuthla Lake in Amritpur tehsil late Saturday night.A passerby, Aman Singh from Pithanapur village, noticed the घायल animal and alerted a local volunteer, who in turn informed the forest department around 1 am. Acting swiftly, a team led by Regional Forest Officer Anoop Kumar reached the spot, administered first aid and safely rescued the deer.Officials said it could not be determined which vehicle caused the accident. The injured animal has been taken under care and is being monitored.District Forest Officer Rajeev Kumar said the deer will be released back into its natural habitat after recovery.Locals noted that the deer population in the area was once significant, but sightings have become rare due to limited conservation efforts and increasing threats such as road accidents.
