Debt-ridden man jumps to death from apartment

Kanpur: A 38-year-old man allegedly committed suicide, jumping from the fifth floor of an apartment in P Road area of the city late Monday night.
According to his wife, the man resorted to the extreme step as he was undergoing depression after being evicted from their ancestral house by his elder brother and was facing acute financial constraints.
Also, he was jobless these days and there was a debt of lakhs of rupees on him. A team from Sisamau police station reached the spot for investigation.
The police identified the deceased as Chandra Kumar Rajbhar (38), resident of Shambhavi Apartment near P-Road Lenin Park. Chandra Kumar used to work in a saree shop. Late Monday night, he ended his life by jumping from the fifth floor of the apartment. His wife Lakshmi told police that he was unable to pay the house rent for the last five months”.
Chandra Kumar’s family members said he was supposed to leave for Hyderabad by train in connection with a job late Monday night. “A family friend had arranged for the job in a private firm in Hyderabad. The train was running late and instead of leaving for the railway station, he committed suicide,” they said.
