KANPUR: Hundreds of students from intermediate and degree colleges participated in the question-answer session on AIDS awareness at the University Institute of Paramedical Sciences in Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSMU) on Tuesday. The event was organized to end misconception of students about HIV and AIDS. CSMU vice-chancellor Ashok Kumar told the students said that such events are useful to create awareness on HIV and AIDS.
Indian Medical Association (IMA), Kanpur chapter, President SK Mishra said that all possible steps should be taken to create awareness about the dreaded disease. Orthopaedic surgeon AS Prasad said that if basic preventions are taken then a person can never get infected with HIV.
In the question-answer session, the queries raised by students were answered by experts. The youth were told that AIDS does not spread by touching or eating with the infected person. HIV does not spread due to mosquito bite or kissing an HIV infected person. Riya Jaiswal, a student at University Institute of Paramedical Sciences, was given the first prize for actively participating in the question-answer session. Dr Alka Sharma, Dr Rahul Mishra, Dr Kiran Pandey and Dr Brijendra Nigam addressed the students and answered their queries.
Earlier, the students of the department of social works, Institute of Fine Arts and University Institute of Paramedical Sciences took out a rally to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS.
