KANPUR: A criminal case was filed against Asaram Bapu in the district court on Tuesday regarding his statement on Delhi gangrape case.
Gyanesh Mishra filed a complaint case under Section 153A of IPC in the court of special chief judicial magistrate and pleaded that Asaram Bapu had given statements to provoke the differences between women and men groups and his act was prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony.

Therefore, he should be summoned and punished.
The magistrate registered the complaint and fixed January 25, 2013 for recording the statement of the complainant.
The petitioner claimed that the 'dharm guru' had said that the victim could have saved herself by addressing the rapists as 'bhaiyya' and pleading for mercy.
Asaram Bapu again issued a statement and claimed that an 'anti-men' campaign had taken hold, following the Delhi gangrape incident and that a new anti-rape law enacted in such a climate will be prone to misuse as anti-dowry laws and SC and ST Act.
The complainant said that some politicians and the 'dharm guru' had issued irresponsible statements over gangrape case.
