KANPUR: A team of doctors constituted by chief medical officer (CMO) visited several places in the city on Friday, where city people were staging protest against the government Lok Pal Bill and fasting for past few days.
A large number of people have been fasting at various places in support of
Anna Hazare. Mohanlal Gupta and his team are sitting in Subhash Upvan in Bakarganj.
Some supporters are on hunger strike at Motijheel. A group of people are staging a protest at 'Bharat Mata Pratima'in Ghantaghar.
Some supporters were fasting at the busy 'Maya Market' and Shastri Nagar from August 16.
The CMO team visited the home of Shiv Kumar Tiwari, who is sitting on fast alone at his home in Nehru Nagar.
The team comprises doctors of Ursula Horsman Hospital (UHM), Kamlapat Hospital (KPM) and the City Hospital in Kalyanpur. The medical officers visited as many as eight places and examined all the supporters of Anna who are on fast.
According to doctors, all the supporters of Hazare are physically and mentally fit. A senior citizen fasting at Subhash Upvan was found in a serious condition.
Mohanlal Gupta (70), on fast from August 16, was in a serious condition. The old man was unable to speak even when the team reached the spot.
Chief medical officer Jai Singh requested the district administration to ask Mohanlal to get admitted in the hospital otherwise his condition may worsen. The CMO team claimed that all the other fasting supporters were fit and sound.
