CK Nayudu Trophy: J’khand scores 177 runs

Kanpur: Host UP has gained an upper hand as it is in a position to take first innings vital lead against Jharkhand on the second day of the under- 25 cricket tournament for Col C K Nayudu trophy on Monday.UP after scoring 370 runs in its first innings, captured Jharkhand’s 7 wickets for 177 runs. The visitors are still 193 runs behind three wickets in hand.Jharkhand’s beginning was similar to UP’s first innings. They too lost their top three wickets for 37 runs and thereafter they recovered. Early blows were given by Kunal Tyagi and Bobby Yadav. Bobby grabbed Sharandeep’s wicket and Robin Minz V Vishal fell prey to Kunal Tyagi.Vivek Kumar and Aditya Tyagi tried to stitch the damage and got some success in their efforts as they executed a 74-run partnership in 93 balls for the fourth wicket. Spinner Zeeshan Ansari broke their partnership, deceived and bowled Aditya Singh for 31. At that juncture the score was 4 for 111. Jharkhand lost Vivek Kumar who was batting well at this score, and four runs later lost captain Surwar for no score.Kritagya KK Singh trapped Vivek Kumar in front of wicket. Surwar was bowled by Zeeshan Ansari before he could open his account. Vivek contributed 46 runs consisting of 7 boundaries in 65 balls. Wicket-keeper Arvind Kumar and Manishi rescued their side from the rot. They batted sensibly and played each ball according to its merit.Their partnership was broken by Kritagya Singh at the fag end of the day when he holed the defence of Manishi who scored 27 runs in 72 balls and added 62 runs in 123 balls. At close, Arvind Kumar is batting on 39 runs scored in 58 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and a six. For UP, Zeeshan, Bobby and Kritagya bagged 2 wickets each.Earlier in the morning, Aditya Sharma and Zeeshan Ansari resumed UP’s first innings from 7 for 325 and added another 45 runs. Century maker Aditya could add just 6 runs in his overnight score and was bowled by Raunak. He faced 246 balls and hit 21 boundaries. Zeeshan’s wicket was claimed by Shubham Kumar Singh for 3. Purnank Tyagi returned unbeaten on 23. After the match, UP coach Mohd Amir said that his bowlers would try to wrap the visitors innings at the earliest and then take a decision about follow on or batting.
