City squash players move to semi-finals of tournament

Kanpur: Raghav Vashishtha and Aryan Pratap secured their quarter-final victories and progressed to the semi-finals of the men's group in TSH UP Close Squash Championship being contested at The Sports Hub on Friday. Raghav overwhelmed Anurup Jalan of Kanpur by 3-0 in the quarter-finals, whilst Aryan Pratap defeated Avanish Agarwal of Lucknow by an identical margin.Nidhi Rawat of IIT Kanpur, Aroma and Khushbhoo of Dhampur, and Unnati Tripathi maintained their winning momentum and advanced to the last four stage in women's group. Nidhi Rawat defeated Arni Singh of Prayagraj by 3-1, Aroma triumphed against Radhika Prasad of Vns by 3-0, Khushboo defeated her city mate Priyanshi Rani by 3-0. Defending champion Unnati Tripathi beat Fabiha Nafees by 3-0. In under-19 boys group, Ayush Pal of Varanasi defeated Anshi Anand of Prayagraj by 3-0, and Ankit Patel of Prayagraj defeated Samar Jaisal of Varanasi by 3-1 to advance to semi-finals. In under-17 boys group, Harshit Pal (Knp) defeated Shubham Jaiswal (Prayagraj) by 3-1, Tejaswa D (Kanpur) defeated Aryan Prajapati (Bareilly) by 3-0 to progress to the semi-finals.Semi-finals and finals of all groups will be played on Saturday. Chess - Kanpur Chess Association will organize a Kanak Bishnoi women chess championship for all age groups from Jan 18. Entry to this event is complimentary and top four players of each group will be felicitated with certificates. The event will be organized in under 7, 9, 11, 14, 17 and 19 years age groups.
